Passion or Passivity?

Passion or Passivity?

defeating_passivityBy Henry Wright

Passion grows out of our vision for the future. It gives us a good reason to get up in the morning even when trials and tribulations come our way. Passion can be destroyed by passivity.

Passivity requires no action or faith. It is first cousin to faithlessness and hopelessness. Habakkuk 2:2 instructs us to write the vision based on our desire for something to happen.

Habakkuk 2:2-4  And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.  3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:  though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.  4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him:  but the just shall live by his faith.

Writing the vision requires hope which is the foundation of faith.

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Every adversity is an invitation for action to produce a winning result. In order to defeat adversity, we need:

  • Inspiration
  • Motivation
  • Perspiration

It will take some effort on our part and it will take action to defeat adversity and come out of passivity. We can start with our hope, faith and vision. Then mix in inspiration, motivation, and perspiration.

We can choose to be those that defeat adversity, beginning today.

Just thinking!
