A few times this week I read that feast of Purim was being observed and so I decided to learn more about it.
It was celebrated by Jews and some Christians yesterday as it started this past Wed. evening and concluded last evening. I learned that the Feast of Purim was likely observed by Jesus and he also healed the man at the pool of Bethesda at this time.
There is so much symbolism and meaning behind the feast! It is a celebration of God delivering the Jews from Haman’s wicked scheme to destroy them all through the obedience of Esther and Mordecai. Just as Jesus had mercy on that one crippled man sitting beside the pool, so also God had mercy on the Jews who also were in a hopeless situation. Reading this was a good reminder that our God is a God of mercy.
