End-Time Ethics

End-Time Ethics

End-Time Ethics

This morning I read this passage and it really stood out to me. Here are some words that Peter shared in light of the end being near. I believe most Christians agree that we are living in the last days. Reading this in the HCSB version can help bring out the thoughts more clearly so that is what I used below.

1 Peter 4:7 Now the end of all things is near;  therefore, be serious and disciplined  for prayer. 8 Above all, maintain an intense love  for each other, since love covers a multitude of sins.  s 9 Be hospitable  to one another without complaining. 10 Based on the gift each one has received, use it to serve others,  as good managers of the varied grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, it should be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, it should be from the strength God provides,  so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

I expect that the first things he mentions are things that he considers most important. It is amazing how these words are so needed today and are very relevant to the times we are living in. Here is the different things he mentions in a list format:

  • Be serious (sober)
  • Be disciplined for prayer
  • Above all, maintain an intense (fervent) love for each other
  • Be hospitable -without complaining
  • Use the gifts you have received to serve others
  • If you speak -speak as one who speaks God’s words
  • If you serve -serve from the strength that God gives

I am still meditating on how this applies to my life and I pray that you will as well.
